Reflection: This think aloud is an example of a routine that I establish at the beginning of the year. I think aloud regularly throughout the first semester. It’s critical for students to consider how to unpack a question and why it’s important for their learning from the beginning of the school year. My experience has taught me that students do not always know what a question is asking the. Here I am attempting to establish a routine that will continue throughout the year. The next time a question such as this is introduced, I will have students help break it down, and they will gradually do this themselves.
