Framing the Think-‐Write: Important to frame the activation of prior knowledge as gathering up and sharing our current knowledge and ideas about the 6 topics as a way for students to help themselves and each other (to be ready) to learn. Questions and cloudy recollections and even wrong facts are helpful in this regard because they can develop into a reading purpose, and the texts could offer corroborations or counter-‐evidence that begins to illuminate misconceptions so they may be authentically resolved.

Independence: The goal of this Think-‐Write is to support students in taking up the practice of strategically and deliberately mining their own and their peers’ schema as a practice for reading and knowledge building.
